With the Memorial Day weekend being one of the busiest times at Disney World, it’s no suprise that guests were hungry to be one of the first to experience the new Toy Story Mania ride. With wait times at the single-rider line experiencing waits over an hour, there was good news for visitors on Sunday when the switch was flicked on the fastpass machines at the ride.

So, going from being announced to the public on the 26th January 2007, with the fastpass machines now trundling out the tickets we are just days away from the official opening of this fantastic ride.

Toy Story Mania, the newest attraction to hit Pixar Place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is due to go into soft-opening any time now.

So what does this soft-opening phrase mean? Well it’s a chance for you to try out the ride prior to it being opened officially. What can’t be guaranteed during soft-opening is whether or not the ride will be open. Think about it, the soft-opening period is for finding out what flaws if any happen with the attraction, so if any glitches are found, the ride will have to be closed so it can be adjusted. Also, you could have an interrupted ride due to the attraction simply breaking down.

So, would this stop YOU going on the ride? Besides the ride has had cast previews, as well as annual pass holders being able to ride the attraction since the start of May, so I’d have thought Toy Story Mania should be running pretty smoothly now.

The date for the official opening of Toy Story Mania is the 31st of May, when it will be officially unveiled as the flagship attraction in Pixar Place. Until that time, the Disney Imagineers have plenty of time to do some tweaking to the ride if necessary.
